Looking back takes us straight to 2016, a year that marked a turning point for many of us who now make up Berkoa. The project was born after the closure of another company, at a difficult time, with colleagues about to lose their jobs and some even close to retirement. From that difficult situation arose a shared idea that is now celebrating its tenth anniversary. Getting here, together, is something that cannot be explained in words.

From the beginning, we were clear about what we wanted to be: a company capable of adapting to the real needs of each customer, designing and manufacturing exactly the machine they need and providing solutions to specific problems. This approach to our work has shaped our entire journey and is summed up well in our motto: ‘You name it, we make it’, or as we say on this tenth anniversary, 10 years of making your ideas a reality. Innovation, dedication and enthusiasm are not just words, they are our way of working.

Over the course of these ten years, there have been important milestones that have reinforced this path. One of the most special was our advanced welding machine, SoldAvanza, manufactured entirely in Berkoa and designed as a test bench for trials, prototypes and short series. The visit of the Lehendakari (Basque President) for its inauguration was a very significant moment, not only because of what it represented at an institutional level, but also because it symbolised a job well done and a commitment to our own technology.

None of this would be possible without the team that shapes Berkoa. As a cooperative, we firmly believe in people and in shared work. Today, we combine experience and knowledge: the know-how of those who have spent their entire lives working with machine tools, together with the current vision and drive of new recruits, who have taken up the baton and ensured the future. This combination is one of our greatest strengths.

We look to the future with our feet firmly on the ground, but always with enthusiasm. We know where we come from, we know who we are, and we are clear that we want to keep moving forward: listening to our customers, adapting, designing and manufacturing useful and real solutions. Thanks to those ten colleagues with whom we started Berkoa (some now retired), to the great team we have today, to our customers, suppliers, representatives and collaborators who have been part of these first 10 years.
