Berkoa strengthens its specialized product and its global impact in six years of history

The company is an expert in rotary friction welders, a product that it has been manufacturing for years and whose technology has evolved significantly in recent years.

Berkoa Machine Tools, a company from Elgoibar (Gipuzkoa), manufacturer of ‘turnkey’ machine tools, has achieved in just six years since its foundation an impact that has led it to establish itself as a benchmark in its segment and to expand rapidly in international markets. The firm expects significant growth, 15%, this year.

Despite being a young company, Berkoa Machine Tools, a specialist in the manufacture of machine tools, has extensive knowledge in the manufacture of machines to improve the quality of its customers’ industrial processes. And it is that the firm emerged in 2016 after the closure of the company in which its promoter partners worked, Kondia-Akoin, given “the push of the clients, who needed continuity since they had various special machine projects in which we had a lot of experience”, explains Andoni García-Abad, managing director of the cooperative.

After reaching pre-pandemic levels in 2021, Berkoa expects to grow 15% in turnover this year

On the other hand, and although it has expanded its client portfolio in recent years, it recognizes that “the loyalty of previous clients has also been an important point”.

Thus, Berkoa produces “a very diverse number of solutions”, the basic type of machinery being chip removal, lathes, milling machines, grinding machines, boring machines, etc. Another important section in its activity is ‘retrofitting’, the design of updated solutions for improving quality or cycle times, among others, of second-hand machines.
